Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-05-11
channel-guard ("the Service", "we") is a channel health monitoring product for YouTube channel operators. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is stored and shared.
1. Data we collect
- Account data — your email address and name, provided by Clerk (our authentication provider) when you sign up. We use Clerk to manage sign-in, including Google SSO.
- YouTube channel data — when you connect a Google account, we request
youtube.readonlyandyt-analytics.readonlyscopes from Google OAuth. We use this to read channel metadata (channel ID, title, thumbnail), subscriber and view counts, monetization status, and aggregate analytics needed to detect channel health changes. We do not modify, delete, or upload any content to your YouTube channel. - Service usage data — group memberships you create, policy snapshots, alert preferences, and digest delivery state.
- Billing data — if you subscribe to a paid plan, billing is handled by Paddle. We store your Paddle customer ID and subscription status. We do not store card numbers.
2. How we use your data
- To poll your YouTube channels and detect health changes (view drops, monetization status changes, policy issues).
- To send you email alerts and digests via Resend when changes are detected.
- To operate authentication, billing, and account management.
- To diagnose and fix bugs in the Service.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties for their own marketing.
3. Google API data — limited use
channel-guard's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data to train AI/ML models, and we do not transfer the data to other parties except as needed to operate the Service.
4. Storage and processors
- Clerk — authentication and user identity.
- Neon — PostgreSQL database hosting (channel data, alerts, settings).
- Vercel — application hosting and serverless compute.
- Paddle — payment processing for paid plans.
- Resend — transactional email delivery (alerts, digests).
- Google APIs — source of YouTube channel and analytics data, accessed with your authorization.
5. Data retention
We retain your account data and connected channel data for as long as your account is active. You can disconnect a Google account at any time from /dashboard/settings/accounts, which revokes our access and removes the associated OAuth tokens. You can request full account deletion by emailing us at the address below; we will delete your account data within 30 days.
6. Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time. You can also revoke channel-guard's access to your Google account from your Google Account permissions page.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be announced via email or via a notice on the homepage.
